Complexion Soaps are excellent because they contain natural glycerin, a skin softening property that is missing from commercial soaps. There are different kinds of recipes depending on your complexion, oily, dry, sensitive, sun damaged, acne prone, ....
First you need to CLEAN your face or it will look like crap.
But beware of commercial soap, it is drying, made most of the time from synthetic detergent composed of fatty acids derived principally from coconuts — so applying it to your face will definitely dry it out. Instead what you'll need is a soap formulated to interact favorably with the chemistry of your particular type of skin.
All soaps work by grabbing the oil, and making it soluble, and retaining the water to get the grease out of your skin and retain moisture.
DRY SKIN
If this is your skin type you will need to add moisture to your skin. Soaps with glycerine or a type of silicone will add moisture to your skin.
OILY SKIN
If this is your skin type you will need to pull some of the oil from your skin. Oil is the glue that makes filth stick to your face. The filth is what clogs your pores and causes acne. Use a soap that contains salicylic acid.
SENSITIVE SKIN
If this is your skin type you will need a milder soap. Propylene glycol, also an ingredient in antifreeze and used to deice planes is also in soap!
NORMAL SKIN
If you have normal skin you are lucky! Use soap containing lanolin, an extract from the oil glands of sheep.
