Soap Recipe #1: Cookie Cutter:
This is a great way to recycle the little bits of soap scrap that you cannot use to bathe and super fun to create!
Materials:
scraps or bars of soap
small metal cookie cutters
plastic sandwich bags to wrap soaps in
Method: Slice soap into thin 1/8 to 1/4 inch layers. Now take cookie cutters and place on the thinly sliced soap and punch out designs. Place in plastic bags or display on soap dish in bathroom.
#2: Almond Scrub
This is a great soap recipe to create a lovely almond scrub soap to clear dead skin. A dash of vanilla oil added to the recipe moisturizes the skin and makes it beautifully smooth.
Materials: 1 cup almonds, 3 bars of plain white unscented of 4 ounces each, ¾ cup mineral water, 3 tablespoons of almond oil, 2ml vanilla scented oil
Method: Powder the almonds in a food processor till it is finely ground. Grate the bars and add to boiling water in a heavy saucepan. Once it has melted, let it simmer for 5-10 minutes until you get a completely homogenous mixture. Remove from heat.
Add the almonds, almond oil and vanilla oil and mix thoroughly. Pour the liquid into soap making molds of your choice and voila! You have created a lovely scented almond scrub.
Variations: To the basic white, unscented soap you can add any different essential oil and set it in a soap mold of your choice to make different soaps.
#3: Cleopatra’s Rose-Milk Secret
The perfect soap recipe to treat yourself to a milk bath like Cleopatra every day!
Materials: 4 pure, unscented, white soaps, 1 cup filtered water, 1 cup milk powder, 20ml almond oil, 3ml rose fragrance oil, 4 drops of red food coloring.
Method: Shred the unscented soap and put aside. Heat the water in a heavy saucepan and mix the shredded soap till you get a sticky mixture. Remove from heat and add the milk powder, almond oil, rose oil and food coloring and mix well. Use rose shaped soap molds to set the soap. These make wonderful party favors for a bridal shower.
